Rev. Kent announces his engagement to the Rev. Diana Hultgren! The preacher is getting hitched! Rev. Kent proposed to Diana on December 29th, 2 years after they met at Christmas Country Dance School. Diana (pronounced “Dee-AH-nah”) is a native of Ohio and a graduate of Kent State University and Iliff School of Theology. She is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister serving as the full-time oncology chaplain for Markey Cancer Institute at the University of Kentucky Hospital. No plans yet for a date, but they are consulting family calendars and details will follow soon! Congratulations to them both!

Welcome to our newest members Joan Moore and Wayne Dollins!

Stephanie Gowler (daughter of Steve and Teresa Gowler) and Anne LaRue were married in Indianapolis on December 31st! Prayers and blessings for many happy years ahead.
Church members Critley King and Scott Smith were married in Cowan Chapel on December 28. Long life and joy to them both!
Deborah Payne will be making a return trip to Uganda where she served in the PeaceCorps for 2 years. She will be doing water improvement work in Katosi where she was deployed.
Florence Anyabuonwu, a devoted member of our community and Berea College graduate will soon be taking her first vows as a Sister of the Divine Providence on January 14, at the Holy Family Home in Melbourne, Ky. The whole church is invited. Please contact the office if you would like to carpool up.

The Red Cross Will Provide and Install Free Smoke Alarms for You. The Bluegrass Area Red Cross is providing and installing free smoke alarms to any Madison County residence. In a national effort to reduce house fires, smoke alarms with 10-yr lithium batteries will be installed free of charge in every sleeping room, common areas, basement and hall. Installations are done on Wednesdays and Fridays. To schedule, call the Red Cross at 859-253-1331!

Let’s Rock Out! Rocking Chairs Needed…2016 brought us a lot of new faces, including a host of newborns. We need a few more rocking chairs to put in the sanctuary for the comfort of old and young alike. If you have a rocking chair in good condition that you’d like to offer or loan to the church, please let Rev. Kent, Rev. Rachel or Dave Kobersmith know by calling the office 986-3725.
