Invitation from Mission Board: Film & Webinar – “Come Hell or High Water: the Battle for Turkey Creek”

We, as a church community and a nation, have focused on issues of poverty and race this summer with the assistance of Black Lives Matter and the Poor People’s Campaign (nationally and in Kentucky). This documentary aims to heighten our awareness of how climate change has a larger impact on poor communities than on more prosperous ones.
The Mission & Service Board invites you to  sign up here to view the film Come Hell or High Water: The Battle for Turkey Creek (free) at this link: https://interfaithpowerandlight.salsalabs.org/comehellorhighwaterfilm

View the film at your leisure August 2 – August 4 (midnight).

The Board purchased the rights for us all (up to 150 of us) proceeds support the restoration efforts at Turkey Creek and reimburse the small independent film team.

Join us for the webinar on August 5th at 5pm PT/ 8pm ET with the filmmaker Leah Mahan, and the activist from the film, Derrick Evans.

Moderated by IPL Executive Director, Susan Stephenson, the conversation will center around the disproportionate impacts of climate change on black and brown communities. We’ll hear exciting updates on the fight to achieve environmental justice for Turkey Creek and learn measures we can all take through policy and direct action to create more just systems and healthier communities.
