Dot Kindel Donates 160th Pint of Blood: 20 gallons!
On May 19, Union Church member, Dot Kindel donated her 160th pint of blood at the Central Kentucky Blood Center’s Berea drive. She was presented with a special certificate on that day, and then honored specially in worship on May 24 where she was presented with a special hand blown glass sculpture. The CKBC estimates that the 20 gallons of O- blood Dot has given has saved over 480 lives, owing to the fact that her blood is often the only kind that can be used for infants. In addition, each pint of whole blood can be split into white cells, red cell, and plasma when those particular elements are all that are needed.
Union Church hosts a blood drive in our community room every other month. The staff are friendly and you can make an appointment to come at a time convenient to you. Church member Joyce Henderson has been helping run our local bloodmobile for over 40 years. We are so proud of both Dot and Joyce and all who give of their very life to offer life to others.
